New recommendations have been released by Uganda’s Ministry of Health for all visitors using Entebbe Airport and other road borders.

If they intend to visit the Pearl of Africa—Uganda—posts such as Malaba, Mpondwe, Cyanika, and Mutukula, among others, they need to be in possession of their yellow fever vaccination certificates and documentation.

After the sickness claimed one life in Kenya, Dr. Sekajugo James, the main medical officer at the Ministry of Health in Uganda, declared that the nation was in a condition of high alertness and risk. He went on to say that Angola is experiencing a major outbreak of yellow fever, which has killed over 200 people. Eight people are thought to have died in another alleged outbreak that occurred in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Dr. James also mentioned that they had two cases of Kenyans traveling from Angola who tested positive; one of them died, and the other is currently receiving medical care.

Dr. James Sekajugo further explained that yellow fever spreads quickly by air; therefore, anyone visiting Uganda from a high-risk country has to have their certificate with them. This certificate should be supplied to every tourist at least ten days in advance of their trip.

The purpose of the card requirement is to safeguard travelers against catching and disseminating the illness.
“To guarantee that travelers who show up without the cards receive the yellow fever vaccination at the airport on their own expenses upon arrival, we are collaborating with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA),” he continued.

When issuing tickets to passengers from high-risk countries, Entebbe International Airport has requested that all airlines make sure their passengers have the certificate.
