HOW TO GET TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK.
Depending on where you are, Bwindi Impenetrable national park can be best accessed by air and road. By road, various transport routes can be used to connect to the park as follows:
BY ROAD.
Kampala- Kabale Kanungu route.
This route involves driving from Kampala through the districts of Masaka, Mbarara, Kabale and Kanungu to connect to any of the chosen sectors. It takes 8-10 hours but filled with scenic views of farmlands, hills of Kigezi, plantations to mention but a few.
Kampala- Ntugamo, Rukungiri, Kihihi route.
This routes takes the visitor 8- 10 hours on a drive from Kampala through Masaka, Mbarara, Ntugamo, Kihihi to the Northern Sector of Buhoma in Bwindi.
The park can also be accessed from different national parks like Queen Elizabeth through the Ishasha sector in the South to give you nice sights of the tree climbing lions and acacia trees. Through Mweya still in Queen, Bwindi can be accessed by just a 3-4 hours’ drive.
Public means can also be used to access the park through boarding a bus from;
Kampala – Kabale then hire a taxi heading to Ruhija.
Kampala – Butoboka then hire private vehicle to Buhoma entrance gate.
Kampala- Kisoro then private taxi to either Rushaga or Nkuringo.

With the airstrips found in Kihihi and Kayonza( Buhoma).
Flights can be chattered from Entebbe International airport or Kajjansi airstrip in Kampala to connect to airstrip in Kisoro which is tarmaced.
From Rwanda, the park can be accessed through a flight from Kigali International Airport to connect to the road heading to the park in a 3-4 hours’ drive in Katuna boarder through Cyanika.
