5 Days Gorillas & Chimps From Kigali

Overview

This 5 days safari brings you from Kigali, Rwanda to Uganda’s renowned Bwindi Impenetrable national park for gorilla trekking and Kibale forest national park for chimpanzee trekking. You will optionally have a cultural walk and Wetland walk in Bigodi.

• Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Bwindi Forest national park.

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Bwindi Forest national park.

Depending on your arrival time at Kigali International Airport or hotel, you will meet up with our guide for a short briefing. Proceed and transfer to Northern sector of Bwindi in Uganda through Katuna boarder with enroute lunch. On arrival check in at the booked lodge relax, have dinner and retire for a night.

Duration: 3 hours’ drive at 60km/hr.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking.

Wake up early for a morning breakfast and with packed lunch head to the park headquarters for briefing by the ranger guides and proceed to the forest and embark on the search for gorillas. This will take you about 2- 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and you will be given 1 hour to be with them once you find them.

In the evening, embark on an optional community walk to the Batwa pygmies to learn more about their ancient lifestyles through songs, dances, folk stories among others. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale forest national park.

Wake up early enough to grab breakfast from your lodge and later check out for a transfer to the primate capital of the world. Along the way, you will have enroute lunch in Fort portal with scenic views of the evergreen plantations. Check in at the reserved lodge on arrival for dinner and retire for a night.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi wetland.

Following a morning breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a simple briefing from the rangers and later proceed to the forest for the trilling experience as you glimpse the chimpanzees. Besides, you will watch them play, feed, jump from one to tree to another.  You will fortunately sight other primates like Grey-checked mangabeys and birds. Have lunch and embark on a nature walk to Bigodi wetland where you will view a lot of birds and animals. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Departure and transfer back to Kigali.

Have breakfast at a relaxed pace and check out of the lodge for a set off back to Kigali with a short city tour in Kigali. You will visit Kigali Genocide memorial center, crafts village among others. Later you will be transferred to the Kigali airport for your next flight back home. This marks the end of our safari.
