4 Days Rwanda Gorillas & Dian Fossey Tour

Overview

This 4 days Gorilla safari takes you to Rwanda’s renowned Volcanoes National park where you will experience the gorillas in the mist through gorilla trekking. The trip also features a visit to graveyard of Dian Fossey and golden monkey trekking. The trip will begin and end in Kigali City.

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National park.

Have early morning breakfast from your lodge and meet the driver guide for a short tour briefing. In your safari vehicle, set off to Volcanoes national park in Musanze district with a short city tour to Kigali Genocide memorial center. Have enroute lunch and later transfer to the reserved lodge for dinner and slumber.

Meal plan: Bed and breakfast.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking.

Begin this amazing day with a morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters. You will meet other trekkers and the guides and be briefed about the dos and don’ts and later proceed to the jungle to find the gorillas. Once you find them you will watch the way they feed and play for 1 hour. After return to the offices of the park for the certificates and then meet the driver for a transfer back to the lodge. In the evening, visit the Iby’iwacu community to experience different cultural performances. Dinner and overnight at the lodge before nightfall.

Day 3: Dian Fossey Visit.

Have morning breakfast and embark on a trek to Dian Fossey Centre in Volcanoes where you will experience her efforts towards gorilla conservation. From this, you will be able to compare the current efforts with the previous for a full day. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Golden monkey trekking and departure.

Following a morning breakfast, transfer to the pack headquarters for a simple briefing about primates and proceed to the forest to search for the golden monkeys. While on the search, expect to see other primates like chimpanzees, different bird species, and butterflies among others.  After transfer back to the lodge for lunch and prepare for a departure back to your desired hotel in Kigali or Kigali International Airport.
