2 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Trek Tour

Overview

This 2 days chimpanzee trekking experience will take you to the famous Kibale forest national park a home to more than 1500 chimpanzee with whom we share DNA of 98.7%. Kibale forest national park offers 100% chances of viewing chimpanzees, you will trek the trails of the forest flowing the chimpanzees footsteps till went you find them.

This 2 days trip is accompany by visit to Bigodi wetlands which is situated on the edge of park. For those who love bird watching, then Bigodi wetlands is sweet able place for you to visit, it has got plenty of bird species and others primates like monkeys, baboon and you will see different plant species. The tour will also include visit to the nearby community to learn more about their traditional beliefs and culture.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale forest national park and afternoon visit to Bigodi wetlands

Our company guide/driver will pick you from agreed point at 7am and start with the journey to Kibale forest national park. The journey takes about 5 hours’ drive passing through the beautiful sceneries, homesteads, tea plantations and ever green vegetation. You will have lunch break from Fort Portal town and then proceed to the park.

Upon arrival, you will check-in at the lodge and then relax bit. Later head or walk in the Bigodi wetlands which are found at the edge of Kibale forest national park. Bigodi wetlands harbors an array of wildlife like baboons, monkeys among others, it also harbors plenty of bird species and plant species. After swamp walk, proceed or community visit, enjoy the local dances among others.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and departure

Wake up early and prepare for the trek. Take morning breakfast and the report to the park’s headquarters by 7am where you will meet park rangers and other tourists. You will be briefed on the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking. After briefing, you will start off with the adventure in Kibale forest hiking long the trials as you hear the screams of the chimpanzees from far and you will be able to allocate them easily. Upon finding them, you will be allowed only one hour with the chimps as you see them swinging from one branch to another, breastfeeding, slapping the tree barks that sounds like thunder. Enjoy the moments with chimp and then after return to the lodge have lunch.

Check-out of the lodge and head back to Kampala to Entebbe international airport.
